Human Design Reflector: The Lunar Type

Reflectors are the rarest type in Human Design, usually said to be around 1% of people. They have no defined centres at all, and the system describes them as mirrors of their community.

What makes a Reflector

A chart is a Reflector when no channel is complete, so none of the nine centres are defined. Gates can still be activated, but without both ends of a channel the centres stay open. This happens rarely, which is why the type is uncommon.

Strategy: wait a lunar cycle

Human Design suggests Reflectors take about 28 days, one full cycle of the Moon, before major decisions. As the Moon moves through all 64 gates in that time, it temporarily connects different channels in the Reflector's chart, and the idea is to experience the decision from every angle.

Lunar authority

Reflectors are the only type with Lunar authority. Rather than a gut or emotional signal, they're encouraged to talk things through with trusted people over the cycle and notice how they feel in different environments.

Surprise and disappointment

The Reflector's signature is surprise, a sense of delight in life; the not-self theme is disappointment. Because they're described as sensitive to their surroundings, the system emphasises being in the right place with the right people.
