Relocation Chart vs Astrocartography Map
If you've ever wondered how your chart would 'look' if you lived somewhere else, there are two related tools: the astrocartography map and the relocation chart. They answer the same question from different directions.

What a relocation chart is
A relocation chart uses your exact birth moment but recalculates it as if you'd been born in a different place. Your planets keep the same signs and aspects, because the moment is the same. What changes are the angles (Rising sign and Midheaven) and the houses, because they depend on the local horizon.
How it relates to astrocartography
An astrocartography map draws, across the whole world, the places where each planet was exactly on one of the four angles at your birth: rising, setting, at the top of the sky (MC) or at the bottom (IC). Standing on a line is the same as having that planet on an angle in your relocation chart for that place.
So the map shows where to look; a relocation chart shows the full picture for one specific city.
What changes, and what doesn't
- Same: planets' signs, aspects, your Sun, Moon and Venus signs.
- Changes: Rising sign, Midheaven, which house each planet falls in.
- Traditionally read as: a different emphasis on the same chart, not a new personality.
Using it well
Astrocartography readings describe traditional associations, such as Venus lines with pleasure and relationships or Saturn lines with responsibility. They can't predict what will happen if you move. Practical factors (people, work, cost, climate) matter more, and astrology is best used as one reflective lens.
Common questions
- Does moving change my birth chart?
- No. Your natal chart stays the same; a relocation chart is an additional chart for another place.
- Do I need a birth time?
- Yes, an accurate one. The angles move about a degree every four minutes.
- Does Soul Atlas make relocation charts?
- Soul Atlas draws your astrocartography lines for all ten planets on all four angles, free, from your birth time and place.
- Can astrocartography tell me where to live?
- It describes traditional associations of places in your chart. It isn't a prediction or a substitute for practical advice.
Astrology, numerology, Human Design and Kabbalah are symbolic traditions, offered here for reflection and entertainment. Nothing in this guide is a prediction or medical, legal or financial advice. Dates are calculated from planetary positions and given in UTC.
