Money in Your Birth Chart: The 2nd House, Venus and Jupiter

Astrology has always had something to say about resources: what we value, how we earn, spend and share. A chart can't tell you whether to buy a house or what to invest in, and Soul Atlas never pretends it can. What it can do is describe your relationship with money and security in a way that's useful to reflect on.

The 2nd house: your own resources

The 2nd house is traditionally the house of money you earn and own, possessions and, more broadly, what you value. Its sign describes your natural approach: a Taurus 2nd house is traditionally steady and comfort-loving, a Sagittarius 2nd house generous and adventurous, a Virgo 2nd house careful and practical.

The planet that rules the 2nd house's sign, and the house that planet sits in, links your money to another area of life, such as work, partnerships or learning.

The 8th house: shared resources

Opposite the 2nd, the 8th house is traditionally shared money: joint finances, debts, inheritance and what we receive through others. It's also the house of intimacy and trust, which is a reminder that money between people is rarely only about money.

The planets of money

  • Venus: what you value and enjoy spending on.
  • Jupiter: where you look for growth and abundance, and where you may be generous or overextend.
  • Saturn: where you build slowly, through effort, discipline and patience.
  • The Moon: how security feels emotionally, which often drives money habits more than logic.

Questions to sit with

  • What did I learn about money growing up, and which of those beliefs still serve me?
  • When do I feel most secure, and how much of that is about money?
  • Where does Saturn sit in my chart, and what am I building slowly there?
  • What would generosity look like if it felt sustainable?

Astrology is not financial advice

No placement makes anyone rich or poor, and no transit is a signal to buy or sell. Treat these themes as a mirror for your habits and values, and take financial decisions with qualified advice.

Venus rules the 2nd house's natural sign, Taurus, and is linked with value. Jupiter and Saturn are also read for growth and long-term building.
Can astrology tell me when I'll have more money?

Do I need my birth time?
Yes, for the houses. Without a time, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn's signs are still available.
